IFM flow sensors are available for many applications - in ceramic, stainless steel and titanium.  Suitable for aggressive products, temperature to 120 degrees C and available for hygienic applications.  Viscous and thin liquids can be monitored with ease.

Various immersion depths are available to suit the application.

Typically the control monitor and display unit can be set for flow velocity between 0.03 and 3 metres/second and mounted on the suction pipework.  Using simple adjustment it can be set at the existing normal flow rate and the sensible measuring range is scaled on the display.

The switch point setting can then be easily set by pressing the button.

If the flow decreases below this set point a signal is provided via the switching output.  This can then be used to shut down the pump - offering dry run protection.
