HPL500 Advanced Motor Load/Shaft Power Monitor for Protection of Machinery

Danish manufacturer Hydria has replaced 5 of their HPL400 series advanced Motor Load (kW) Monitors with the new HPL500 offering cost savings of up to 16%.

In addition to the cost saving the HPL500 is much more user friendly. Featuring a feed through tube for the current input it can measure current levels of up to 40 amps continuous before you have to use a current transformer. That's 27kW @ 3 x 400v.It also features a motor voltage measuring range of 100-575v 3-phase and 100-400v single phase. All this on only one unit.


The HPL500 displays kW as well as kW% and you can choose to measure motor input power P1 or Shaft Output Power P2 Using a powerful microprocessor and a unique motor loss modeling technique the HPL500 can calculate motor losses P0 across the working power range of the motor. This method is significantly more accurate than the fixed offset technique used by other manufacturers.

Input Power P1 = P2 + P0. . . . . . Shaft Output Power P2 = P1 - P0.

The HPL500 also features an analogue output proportional to motor load, a pre-scaling zoom function for the analogue output, two configurable output relays, peak detectors, delay timers,and more. Options include RS232 or RS485 comm's and VFD output measurement.
